Jabi is located in Besut District, Terengganu, Malaysia. It is a village, a small town, a mukim and a State Assembly. Hence, Jabi is four in one. Jabi is famous for its satay, a local delicacy in Malaysia. It said to be the best in Terengganu. How To Get There
If you are from outside of Malaysia you first have to come to Malaysia. There are many entery point to Malaysia such through Singapore in the south, and Thailand in the north. You can fly direct to Malaysia through Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) located near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia capital city. From KLIA you can take connecting flight either to Kuala Terengganu Airport or Kota Baharu Airport. Then you have to travel by road to Jabi either by taxi or bus. The is no passenger train through Terengganu. The nearest train stop is through Wakaf Baru, Kelantan.
If you are already in Malaysia then depending on you loacation you can either travel by air to Kuala Terengganu or Kota Bharu Airport and then by road to Jabi. If you have your own transport (or you hire one) you have to drive to Kuala Terengganu if you are travelling from the south. If you are from north then travel to Jertih Town first before travelling about 10 km south to reach Jabi.
There two major route that you can take. The first is the main road from Kuala Terengganu-Jerteh-Kota Bharu. The second is the Coastal Road from Kuala Terengganu-Merang-Penarik-Kota Putra-Kuala Besut-Tok Bali-Kota Bharu. If you travel from Kuala Terengganu you exit to Guntung at Saujana. At Guntung you go in direction of Jerteh or Kota-Bahru. If you come from Kota Baharu it is better to take the main road from Koota Baharu-Kuala Terengganu. If you try to take the coastal road from Kota Baharu you might get lost because there are many routes that can be taken. You need to ask the locals.

A Small Town
Jabi Town is a centre for many small villages in Mukim of Jabi. There a small market and many shops in Jabi Town. There are several facilities such as Police Station, Petrol Station, Mosque, Secondary School among others. Some people either go to Jerteh Town to or Pasir Puteh Town (in Kelantan) to do their shopping.
It is not clear which is town and which is village. There are already many information available on the internet on Jabi. You can obtain some reference point on Jabi by looking at Wikimapia.
A State Assembely
Jabi is N05 State Assambly. The current ADUN (Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri)(State Assembley Representative) is Tuan Haji Ramlan Ali from the National Front Party (BN). Jabi a hot seat in Terengganu. If you are interested in politic please follow the local newspaper.
The latest election was on 8th March 2008. In Terengganu, Looking at previous election, Jabi State Assembly is one of the hot seat to be watch. Nomination for the election was held on 24 February 2008. Tuan Haji Ramlan Ali (BN) this time was defending his seat against Dr. Azman Ibrahim (PAS). In this constituency there are 14,070 voters (Chinese 0.5%, Indian 0.1%, Malay 99.2%, Others 0.2%).
In 2004, the total number of voters were 12,166. Turnout were 10,655 (87.58%). Tuan Haji Ramlan won by 1,100 votes.
Tuan Haji Ramlan Ali (BN) retain his seat in the election held on 8 March 2008.
Recent election in April 2013 was won by BN candidate En Mohd Iskandar bin Jaafar .
The nearest town to Jabi with some shopping facility is Jerteh about 10 km away. Kuala Terengganu and Kota Baharu offers more facilities as the state capital for Terengganu and Kelantan respectively.
Jabi has a good telecommunication connection system.
There is a Community Clinic in Jabi. The address and contact number is as follows. If you need medical attention you might need travel to Jertih where you can find Jertih Hospital a government hospital with medical facilities. If you need more specialised treatment then you might be referred to hospital in Kota Baharu or Kuala Terengganu.
There is also a private clinic in Jabi. More private clinic are located in Jertih Town.
There is a mini post-office situated across the main road in front of the Mosque. You may purchase stamps from there and get some other services. For other services you have to go to Jerteh Town.

There is a secondary school in Jabi. The school is located about one kilometer from the main road. Another secondary school is located at Renek about 3km from Jabi. The telephone number can be obtained by visiting this site.
Pondok is a traditonal religious schools. They ere usually traditional in the sense that they are not structured like Government school. The are for people out of Government school but like to study religous education. There two school nearby Jabi. You can ask the locals.
There is no university at Jabi. However, a new university called University Darul Iman (UDI) will be build approximately 20km from Jabi. UDI when operational will be within travelling distance from Jabi. The other nearest university are lacated in Kota Bharu (Medical Faculty of Universiti Sains Malaysia), and Kuala Terengganu (Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT).
Jabi offers many attraction for tourists. There is a beautiful waterfall called Lata Belatan located about 5 km from the main road. Lata Belatan is a place from where you can can climb up to Gunung Tebu (*** m above MSL). At Lata Belatan you can find a few chalets and camping sites.
Satay of Jabi
Along the main roads along Jabi there a few satay stall such as: Mastura, Lanang and Kak Mah. Normally satay are sold in the afternoon. Some only sold their satay on certain time and day only. You might need to ask the locals because some do not advertise their stall name. Many travellers and tourist stop at these stalls to enjoy the satay and taking before continuing their journey. Some buy takeaways to share them with their family or enjoy them while on the roads. Some say satays from Jabi are the best in Terengganu. Stop at Jabi and buy your satay.
Jabi is loacated within less than one hour drive to jetties from where you take boat ride to Pulau Perhentian, and Pulau Redang. These islands are famous for their beautif beaches and their beautiful coral reef. Many local and international nature lovers visited these island to enjoy the beautiful marine ecosystem either by snorkeling or scuba diving. These island and other nearby island are gazetted as National Marine Park, where activities development and activities are controlled. Offices of Department of Marine Park are located on Pulau Perhentian and Pulau Redang. To go to Pulau Perhentian from Jabi you should go to Kuala Besut. You need to travel to Merang to go to Pulau Redang and other nearby Islands such as Pulau Bidong and Pulau Lang Tengah. Both destination are less than 2 (two) hours, including road travel and boat ride, from Jabi. You need to check the departure time of the boats.
Main government office in the District are located in Kota Putera (Kampong Raja). The district office and Local Authority are located in Kota Putera. Some government office and facilities are located in Jertih. However, there are a few government facilities located in Jabi such as ...Agriculture Training Centre.
There is a mosque in Kampong Jabi. There several suraus available, you need to ask the local for the information.
